iGEM would be an invaluable experience simulating being a start-up in the genetic engineering world. I cannot imagine a better crash course in synthetic biology and in securing funding for a research project.
I want to challenge myself to develop new skills further as part of the project, such as web design, wet lab skills, and scientific write-ups. Video production, pitching, and script writing I am partially familiar with, but would want to take the opportunity to refine much further.
I have experience in scientific competitions before, and while the personal growth is always valued, so is a nice shiny award at the end of it. I thrive having a goal to work towards, especially in a team environment, and want to join to help us get Gold and more.
